b right on

cool place. good vibe. kinda reminded me a bit of vancouver with an ecclectic mix of hippies, artisans, university students and tourists flooding the streets as the busker/comedy festival ensued this weekend.

quite bohemian - as Colleen put it - and in some cases we weren't entirely sure if people were in costumes for the busker festival or if it was their normal clothing. you could get away with wearing pretty much anything you want!

one of the many neat things about Brighton is that you can go to these open houses which are all mapped out on these tourist maps. in the open houses, local artists display their paintings, sculptures (or whatever) in their own homes or, someone else will host it.

for the most part the artists were there and available to chat. some pretty neat art but in some cases i was way more interested in the home itself vs. the pieces on display.

went down to the Brighton Pier where it's like a permanent Ottawa Ex but on a huge, kick-ass, dock. merry go-rounds scattered around the beach front. had some yummy fish n' chips down by the beach. the beach - incidentally - was a rock beach, not sand.

it was a really interesting atmosphere!

i can only imagine how packed it must get there in the summer! it was fairly packed with people when we were there, i bet you can hardly move around when it's in the middle of July.

huge thanks to Shelly for being a gracious host and showing us around. Colleen ... as always, you Rock sista! looking forward to playing with you in the tournament this weekend.

signing off for now. peace out.
